Saudi Arabic Learning Books

Conversational Arabic Quick and Easy: Saudi Series (Najdi, Hijazi and Saudi Gulf Dialects)
If your desire is to learn complicated grammatical rules of Saudi Arabic, this book is NOT for you. However, if you need to actually hold a conversation while on a trip to Saudi Arabia then this book is what you have been looking for. The Nitzany Method is designed for fluency in a foreign language while communicating in the first person present tense. Nitzany believes that what is most important is actually being able to understand and be understood by another human being right away. Therefore, unlike other courses, all words in this book are taught in English transliteration, without having to learn the complex alphabet. More formalized training in grammar rules can come later.
Saudi Arabic Basic Course Urban Hijazi Dialect
There are three major groups of dialects in Saudi Arabia--Hijazi, spoken on the western coast, in Jeddah, Taif, and the holy cities of Mecca and Medina; Najdi, spoken in and around Riyadh, in the north central part of the country; and Shargi, spoken in the oil-rich eastern region. While the Najdi dialect enjoys prestige by virtue of its conservatism and relative closeness to Classical Arabic and the fact that it is the dialect of the royal family, the Hijazi dialect is used throughout the country for government and commercial purposes, and has become the most widely-understood dialect in the Arabian Peninsula. This book will provide students with all the basic grammatical structures of the Hijazi dialect, so that they will be ready to proceed on their own to acquire the speed and new vocabulary which lead to real fluency.
Najdi Arabic: Central Arabian
The region of Najd in Central Arabia has always been regarded as inaccessible, ringed by a belt of sand deserts and often with its population at odds with the rulers of the outer settled lands. It is however the centre of a purely Arabian culture based on a partnership between bedouin camel husbandry and settled palm cultivation. Because of their isolated position the Najdi dialect is of a very interesting and archaic type showing very little non-Arabic influence, which has led to the reputation of the Arabian bedouin as preservers of the original Classical form and considerable prestige being attached to the Najdi type. Consequently the region is a powerhouse of dialect influence so that Najdi based dialects are spoken all along the Gulf Coast and throughout most of the Syrian Desert. Ingham's work concentrates on the grammatical system, syntax and usage and is based on a number of trips to the region over fifteen years. The database includes bedouin oral narrative, ordinary conversation and radio plays.
Saudi Arabian Dialects
The aim of this book is to study the morphology of a number of Saudi Arabian dialects, concentrating on the aspects of verbal inflections on one hand and the suffixation of verbs, nouns, prepositions and other particles on the other. The book covers the dialects of the Southern Hijaz as well as the Najdi and Eastern Arabian dialects.
Arabic vs. Arabic: A Dialect Sampler
While this book does not focus on learning Saudi Arabic, it lets you explore the vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar of 15 varieties of Arabic (that is, Modern Standard Arabic and 14 dialects including Saudi Arabic) through tables with notes and free, downloadable accompanying audio. You can go through the tables in order or skip around the book to see what catches your attention. The book really is meant to be a sampler platter to give you a taste of each Arabic dialect and a better understanding of just how varied the various varieties of Arabic are. The layout encourages the self-discovery method of learning. While the notes under many tables identify points of interest, you are encouraged to find patterns, exceptions, innovative features of dialects, and universals by studying the tables and listening to the audio tracks.
